4th grade went on a field trip to Bridgewater Community Garden. At the garden we got to pick peppers, potatoes, carrots, and green beans. We had a competition to see who could pick the biggest carrot. Before we planted the vegetable we had to vote if we wanted broccoli or lettuce. We picked broccoli. We all had different jobs. While we planted some of the jobs were making holes for the plants to go in, putting plants in the holes, and filling the holes back in. We also got to pick green beans. We found long ones and short ones, skinny ones, and fat ones. At the end, before we left, we got to pick out different types of plants to bring back with us to cut open when we got back. Some of us picked watermelons, cantaloupe, corn, lima beans, tomatoes and green beans. While we were picking green beans we found a caterpillar. We were all in different groups doing different things but we all did the same things by the time we left. We found rotten peppers and we saw smushed potatoes. We got dirty and we had an amazing time. I wish we could do it again some time.
